Job Description:

The task of this position is to support and assist in functions and projects that contribute to the daily functions reflective of a Process Engineering and Continuous Improvement Department for Orthman Manufacturing. All duties will support activities inclusive of a lean manufacturing environment which would involve but not limited to: productivity improvements, and fixture/tooling and production equipment upgrades and recommendations.

Core Responsibilities

Assist in developing designs and upgrades to fixtures, tooling, shop aids, mistake-proofing methods and poke-yoke devices, including fabricate the upgrades and proof them.
Assist in productivity improvements and process flows of the shop floor in line with lean manufacturing philosophies and strategies.
Fixture & Tooling: -Work with R&D and engineering to help in the design of production fixtures and tooling, to also include upgrades, redesign and modifications to current fixtures and tooling. -Manufacturing equipment
Help to recommend new production equipment upgrades that would help facilitate productivity improvements along with increasing production capacity and calculate their return on investments, (ROI).
Productivity improvements: – Work with the Manager of Lean Engineering in recognizing areas for improvement throughout the entire organization – Recommend and help facilitate Lean events – Train and lead lean workshops, conduct meetings and provide encouragement on the floor
Full interaction with the manufacturing floor will be required.
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing and business methods.
Evaluate and revise processes in order to generate cost savings and improve product quality and throughput efficiency.
Will interact with Production Managers and team members to provide standard problem solving and process troubleshooting support
